Assalamu alykum,

Is it permissible for women to wear rings with religiously recommended stones such as agate ['aqeeq] and turquoise [fayruzaj] outside of their homes even though some consider them to be attractive of attention [mulfit]?

Waalykum assalam,

According to Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei (may the Almighty prolong his life):

If it is considered decoration [zinah] then it must be covered from foreign [non-mahram] men.

According to Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may the Almighty prolong his life):

On the condition that one is safe from falling into impermissible actions, as well as not wearing the ring for the sake of causing non-mahrams to look in an impermissible manner, and the ring not being a cause of initiating strife [fitnah] even in a general manner [naw'an], then there is no issue in wearing it, albeit that the recommended precaution [ihtiyat istihbaabi] is to not wear it in all cases.

May the Almighty grant you tawfeeq in all of your affairs
