Is it permissible to eat at restaurants that serve alcohol (keeping in mind that there are no restaurants that do not serve alcohol)?

Waalykum assalam,

According to Grand Ayatollah Sayyid al-Sistani (may the Almighty prolong his life):

A Muslim has the right to visit places where alcohol is served with food, provided that this does not lead to promoting the work of these restaurants, and that he does not sit at a table where alcohol is being drunk. There is no issue with sitting at a table where alcohol is not being served, even if it is adjacent to the table of someone who drinks alcohol.

According to Grand Ayatollah Sayyid al-Khamenei (may the Almighty prolong his life):

Entering a restaurant where alcohol is being drunk, even if it is being drunk at another table, has two scenarios:

(1): If entering this restaurant is considered support or encouragement to perform a forbidden act or if corruption occurs as a result, then such is forbidden according to Islamic law.

(2): If entering such restaurants does not result in the above-mentioned forbidden things, then it is permissible in and of itself.

May the Almighty grant you tawfeeq in all of your affairs.
