Assalamu alaykum,

I have a quick question regarding my work. I recently received a request from a client (Christian) who wanted a website for his restaurant. I agreed to move forward with the project but have just noticed that the restaurant includes a bar serving alcohol. The reason for my message today is to get your advice on whether I should continue with the project, knowing that alcohol is involved.

Waalykum assalam,

According to Grand Ayatollahs Sayyid al-Khamenei and Sayyid al-Sistani (may the Almighty prolong their lives):

It is forbidden to receive wages in exchange for spreading misguidance and corruption, such as publishing pictures of alcohol and encouraging its drinking, and anything of this nature. Accordingly, the wages that you receive in exchange for advertisements for alcohol and anything of this nature are considered not yours due to the invalidity of the contract [ijarah].

May the Almighty grant you tawfeeq in all of your affairs.
