What is the duration of stability in the sitting position after prostration and standing after bowing? Is the time it takes to say 'Allahu Akbar' sufficient before I start moving?

Peace be upon you.

Ayatollah Khamenei (may Allah protect him):

- After completing the mention of the first prostration, one must raise their head and sit calmly before bending for the second prostration.

- It is obligatory, as a precaution, to sit after the second prostration in the first unit of all prayers and in the third unit of the four-unit prayers before standing for the next unit. However, if one stands for the next unit directly without sitting for a moment, their prayer is not invalidated.

- After finishing the mention during bowing, one must raise their head until they are standing calmly before going into prostration. If one prostrates intentionally before standing or before achieving calmness, their prayer is invalidated.

Thus, what is required is to sit or stand calmly, and if this is achieved even for the time it takes to say 'Allahu Akbar', that is sufficient.

Ayatollah Sistani (may Allah protect him):

- One must raise their head from the first prostration until they are sitting calmly.

- It is obligatory, as a precaution, to perform the sitting of rest, which is sitting after the second prostration in the first and third units where there is no testimony.

- One must raise their head until they are standing, and calmness is required at this stage as a precaution. If one forgets this until they exit the limits of bowing, they are not required to return, although it is recommended to do so unless they have entered into prostration.

Thus, what is required is to sit or stand calmly, and if this is achieved even for the time it takes to say 'Allahu Akbar', that is sufficient.
