I often make a vow to Allah whenever I want to do something or when I face a challenge. However, I forget what I vowed and break the promise I made, such as returning to sin. Please advise me.

Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may Allah protect him):

If your vow is uncertain among specific matters, you should take precautions by fulfilling all of them. If that is difficult, you should fulfill what does not cause you hardship, prioritizing what is more likely over others. If the uncertainty is not limited, it suffices to fulfill some of the possible options in a way that does not lead to certainty of violating the known obligation.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei (may Allah protect him):

If your vow is uncertain among specific matters, you should choose between them and act accordingly. If it is uncertain among non-specific matters, it suffices to do one of the actions that you think you vowed.

May you be successful in all good.
