Ayatollah Sistani (may Allah protect him):
It is disliked to omit Surah Al-Ikhlas in all five obligatory prayers, to recite it in one breath, and to recite the same Surah in both of the first two Rak'ahs except for Surah Al-Ikhlas, which is permissible to recite in both the first and second Rak'ahs.
It is also recommended to recite certain Surahs in specific prayers, such as Surah An-Naba, Surah Al-Dahr, Surah Al-Ghashiyah, and Surah Al-Qiyamah in the Fajr prayer, and Surah Al-A'la and Surah Ash-Shams in Dhuhr and Isha, Surah An-Nasr and Surah At-Takathur in Asr and Maghrib, Surah Al-Jumu'ah in the first Rak'ah and Surah Al-A'la in the second Rak'ah of the two Isha prayers on Friday night, Surah Al-Jumu'ah in the first and Surah Al-Ikhlas in the second of the Fajr prayer, Surah Al-Jumu'ah in the first and Surah Al-Munafiqun in the second of the Dhuhr prayers, Surah Al-Dahr in the first and Surah Al-Ghashiyah in the second of the Fajr prayer on Thursdays and Mondays. It is recommended in every prayer to recite Surah Al-Qadr in the first and Surah Al-Ikhlas in the second, and if one changes from other Surahs to these due to their virtue, they will receive the reward of the Surah they changed from, in addition to the reward of these two.
