Peace be upon you. I know that in prostration, all seven places of prostration must be placed on the ground, but I cannot place my entire thumbs; I only place half of them. Is this permissible?

Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may Allah protect him):

It is obligatory to place the palms of the hands on the ground in their entirety, as much as possible, as a precaution. Therefore, the requirement for the hands to be fully placed means that it should be recognized that the entire palm is on the ground. It is clear that it is not possible to bend the thumb in a way that makes it like the other fingers, so there is no issue with what you are doing.
