We know that Sayyid Sistani does not express an opinion on the issue of Tatbir. Is it permissible for us to switch to a more knowledgeable authority who permits Tatbir, such as Sheikh Wahid?

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may God protect him):

One must investigate the fatwa of the most knowledgeable authority to the best of their ability until they are assured of its absence. If there is a fatwa from the most knowledgeable authority that is accessible, it is not permissible to refer to another. If one is assured that there is no fatwa from their most knowledgeable religious authority, they may refer to another, while considering the most knowledgeable after their religious authority.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei (may God protect him):

It is permissible to follow a jurist who meets the conditions but is not the most knowledgeable (with the precaution of considering the most knowledgeable as obligatory) in matters where the most knowledgeable has not issued a fatwa, or where it is not possible to reach their opinion even after investigation, and the non-most knowledgeable jurist has clarified its ruling.
