Ownership of Husband's Assets Upon Divorce

Question

A woman is entitled to half of her husband's assets upon divorce according to the law in a foreign country. The question arises whether she can legally own these assets and what to do if she has already used some of them.

Ayatollah Khamenei and Ayatollah Sistani (may Allah protect them):

1) It is not permissible to own half of the husband's assets upon divorce unless this was stipulated in the marriage contract.

2) If it is not permissible to own these assets but you have already used some of them, you must obtain the husband's permission for that portion and return the remainder to him.
