In the context of prayer, while I am in prostration and reciting the glorification, if I move my hand without lifting it off the ground, does that nullify my prayer? When this happened, I completed my prayer and performed the prostration of forgetfulness. Is that valid? What actions can nullify the prayer?

Peace be upon you.

Ayatollah Al-Sistani (may Allah protect him):

There is no problem in moving the hand in the manner mentioned, and it does not necessitate the prostration of forgetfulness.

As for the nullifiers of prayer, they are:

- Occurrence of an event (such as passing gas or urination, or anything that nullifies ablution).

- Turning away from the Qibla without a valid excuse, which disrupts the required orientation in prayer.

- Actions that erase the form of prayer according to the jurists, such as dancing or jumping.

- Speaking intentionally.

- Laughing.

- Intentionally crying, with caution whether it involves sound or not.

- Eating and drinking, even in small amounts, if they erase the form of prayer, and generally, it is safer to avoid them.

- Placing one hand over the other (known as takfir).

- Intentionally saying "Ameen" after completing Surah Al-Fatiha.

There are many details related to these nullifiers that cannot all be mentioned here.
