Peace and mercy of Allah be upon you. Since a person is unable to fully enumerate Allah's blessings and favors, they will not be capable of truly thanking Him. Therefore, one must acknowledge their inability to express gratitude. The very act of thanking Allah is itself a blessing that requires gratitude. Just as a person cannot worship Allah as He deserves due to their shortcomings in knowing Him, they will also not be able to thank Him as He deserves. Thus, we refer to what has been narrated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) regarding this acknowledgment of inadequacy and turn to Allah with what we have learned. You, dear one, can refer to the supplications of the grateful and extract from them this duty through the fragrant words contained within: "O my God, I am overwhelmed by the abundance of Your blessings, and I am unable to enumerate Your praises due to the flood of Your grace. I am preoccupied with Your countless favors, and I am unable to spread the knowledge of Your kindness due to the continuous flow of Your bounties. This is the state of one who acknowledges the abundance of blessings and faces it with shortcomings, who bears witness to their negligence and wastefulness. And You are the Compassionate, the Merciful, the Generous, who does not disappoint those who seek You, nor do You cast away those who hope for You. In Your presence, the hopeful find refuge, and in Your domain, the needy stand. So do not meet our hopes with disappointment and despair, nor clothe us in the garments of hopelessness and despair. O my God, my gratitude is diminished in the face of Your immense blessings, and my praises are insignificant compared to Your honor towards me. Your blessings have adorned me with the lights of faith, and Your kindness has enveloped me with the cloak of dignity. Your favors have adorned me with unbreakable chains, and I am surrounded by bonds that cannot be loosened. Your blessings are numerous, and my tongue is weak to enumerate them, and Your favors are many, and my understanding is limited in grasping them, let alone comprehending them fully. So how can I achieve gratitude when my gratitude towards You is in need of gratitude? Every time I say: 'All praise is due to You,' I must also say: 'All praise is due to You.' O my God, just as You have nourished us with Your kindness and raised us with Your craftsmanship, complete for us the abundant blessings and protect us from the evils of calamities. Grant us the highest and most honorable shares of both worlds, in this life and the Hereafter. And all praise is due to You for the goodness of Your trials and the abundance of Your blessings, a praise that aligns with Your pleasure and reflects the greatness of Your kindness and generosity, O Most Great, O Most Generous, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful." May you be successful in all that is good.
