The presence of a religious scholar is not a requirement for either temporary or permanent marriage, although it is preferable due to their knowledge of the rulings to avoid mistakes in the marriage. Couples may fall into errors that could lead to permanent prohibitions due to their lack of awareness of all the conditions or misunderstanding how to apply and comprehend those conditions correctly.
