What is the ruling if a person intends to travel the next day during Ramadan, becomes junub (in a state of ritual impurity) at night, and remains in that state until after Fajr, believing that they do not need to perform ghusl (ritual washing) because they are traveling?

Peace be upon you.

Ayatollah Al-Sistani (may Allah protect him):

If the person is aware of the ruling and still does not perform ghusl, they must pay a kaffarah (expiation). However, if they are unaware of the ruling, there is no kaffarah required.

Ayatollah Al-Khamenei (may Allah protect him):

If the person is aware of the ruling, it is obligatory to pay the kaffarah for intentionally breaking the fast during Ramadan. However, if they were unaware of the ruling, no kaffarah is required.

May you be successful in all good.
