Answer 1

Peace be upon you. It is necessary for the place of prostration in prayer to be from the earth or from what it produces that is not edible or wearable, such as stone, soil, wood, and leaves of trees. Prostration is not valid on edible or wearable items, even if they are produced from the earth, like wheat and cotton, nor on items that are not classified as earth, such as metals and glass. Prostration is valid on marble stones and other stones used in building or decoration, as well as on agate, turquoise, and pearls, although it is recommended to avoid prostrating on agate, turquoise, and pearls. Prostration is also valid on bricks, ceramics, plaster, lime, cement, and on what grows from the earth that is only used as animal fodder, such as hay and grass. It is obligatory to avoid prostrating on green tea leaves, but it is permissible to prostrate on coffee leaves that are not used for food. Prostration is valid on non-edible flowers and on herbal remedies that grow from the earth and are used only for treating diseases, such as marshmallow and violet flowers. However, it is not valid to prostrate on herbs that are used for food as well as for their medicinal properties, such as certain grains. Prostration is valid on paper made from wood and plants (excluding cotton and linen). Therefore, the stone shown in the attached image is permissible for prostration.
