Peace be upon you.
In general, to purify something that has become impure after the impurity has been removed, it must be washed with a small amount of water twice for urine and once for other impurities, and the water must be removed by wringing or moving it, as a precaution. The water used for washing is considered impure, and if using a large amount of water, it suffices to wash it once after the impurity has been removed, provided the water flows away from it, and the water used for washing is considered pure.
Ayatollah Sistani (may Allah protect him):
It is possible to purify a mattress, carpet, or similar items if they have become impure with types of impurities that do not have a physical substance—meaning they do not leave a trace on the mattress or carpet—by pouring a small amount of water over them from a jug or cup once. If the pure water covers the impure area, the water should be removed by wringing, pressing, using a vacuum, rubbing, or with a cloth, or otherwise, thus purifying the mattress or carpet and similar items. The water removed from them is considered impure as a precaution. If one chooses to purify with a large amount of water, it suffices to pour water over it after removing the impurity without the need for wringing or similar actions.
May you be successful in all good.
