Peace be upon you.

Due to the prevalence of music in the world and the fact that the ruling depends on the customs that vary by place and time, and the discernment of the individual, there is no definitive statistic on this matter. Here is the guideline:

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei (may Allah protect him):

Musical instruments that are generally considered permissible and can be used for lawful purposes may be used in a manner that is not frivolous or misleading for permissible objectives.

As for instruments that are generally considered to be specifically frivolous and misleading away from the path of Allah, their use is not permissible.

By frivolous instruments, we mean those that are typically used in frivolous sounds that mislead from the path of Allah and cause intellectual and doctrinal deviation or lead to sin, and they do not have any lawful benefit.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may Allah protect him):

Music that is suitable for frivolous gatherings, such as that played with instruments like the oud, tambour, qanun, guitar, and similar instruments, is forbidden like singing. As for other types, such as military and funeral music, it is advisable to avoid them as well.

May you be successful in all good.
