Peace be upon you. 1) I always fear becoming in a state of janabah (impurity) from watching television, even though I do not watch forbidden scenes, but I have developed anxiety about any scene that might be shown. What should I do in this case? 2) Is bodily fatigue that is not accompanied by pleasure or desire sufficient for a person to be in a state of janabah? 3) If a person becomes in a state of janabah, should the area of semen discharge be purified with water before performing ghusl (full ritual washing)? Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings.

Q1) If you fear having a wet dream, recite this dua:

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from wet dreams, from bad dreams, and from the devil playing with me in wakefulness and sleep. (Mafatih al-Janan 754).

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei (may God protect him):

Q2) Generally, the moisture that exits is not considered semen unless you know it is semen or if it is accompanied by desire, bodily fatigue, and ejaculation.

If these three characteristics do not occur, you are not required to perform ghusl.

Q3) The area should be purified by pouring water over it once after the impurity has been removed.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may God protect him):

Q2) If you are certain that a fluid has exited and you are sure it is semen, you must perform ghusl.

If you are not sure it is semen:

If you feel ejaculation, desire, and bodily fatigue when the fluid exits, you can rule it as semen and must perform ghusl.

If these three characteristics do not occur, you are not required to perform ghusl.

Q3) For a body that has been contaminated by something other than urine, one washing is sufficient for purification once the impurity has been removed, even if it is removed with the first washing.

May you be successful in all good.
