Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Khamenei (may God protect him):

It is not permissible for a person to follow others in determining the time for iftar. If it is a matter of taqiyya (dissimulation), then it is permissible for him to break his fast, but he must make up for it later. It is not permissible for him to break his fast voluntarily except after confirming the arrival of night and the end of the day either through direct observation or by a legitimate evidence.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may God protect him):

In our school of thought, the time is not when the sun sets as the general public says, but rather the disappearance of the eastern redness. This occurs about fifteen minutes or more after the public call to prayer, depending on the country and time. Observing the disappearance of the redness while knowing that the sun has set is based on caution. In any case, if one breaks their fast according to the public call to prayer, they must make it up, and there is also a penalty if they were aware of the ruling.

If taqiyya necessitates breaking the fast before sunset, then it is obligatory to break the fast at that time, but one must make it up later as a precaution.
