Is it necessary for a person to step out from under the shower if they want to perform the Ghusl of Janabah before washing their head and neck, and before washing the right and left sides? What is the ruling if they do not do this? [AR_ID:1529]

Peace be upon you and God's mercy and blessings.

It is not required.

Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani (may God protect him):

Performing Ghusl with the mere intention while under the shower is not without issues. However, if the water coming from the shower is intermittent like rain, or if the person moves under the water after the Ghusl such that the water stops at one place and flows to another— even if their intention is to cover the body— then their Ghusl is valid at that point.
