Salam,

If the eldest son in a family is looking to get married and must move to a different location for a few years, what is the Islamic view on leaving his parents so long as they are able to live alone and independant, and assuming they are okay with this arrangement?

Would the eldest son have an obligatory responsibility over the siblings?

Waalykum assalam,

According to Grand Ayatollahs Sayyid al-Khamenei and Sayyid al-Sistani (may the Almighty prolong their lives):

There is nothing obligatory upon him as he is not  obligated to provide for his siblings.

May the Almighty grant you tawfeeq in all of your affairs.
