Peace be upon you. Taqiyya is the act of concealing the meaning from the listener to avoid lying. It is permissible in itself, but it becomes prohibited if it falls under certain secondary categories, such as deception in transactions and similar cases. According to Grand Ayatollah Sistani, taqiyya is allowed. Grand Ayatollah Khamenei also states that taqiyya is when the speaker says something that is understood from the apparent meaning of their words, even though that is not their intention; rather, their intention is a meaning that is not apparent, and this is permissible. It is advised not to frequently engage in taqiyya without necessity, as this may lead one to lie without realizing it and can result in a lack of trust from others when the truth is revealed. It is better to limit its use to cases of necessity. May you be successful in all good deeds.
